Are you homeschooled? Interested in acting? Do you love telling stories?
All the World's a Stage Players (AWSP) may be the perfect place for you and your family!
We are a family-based homeschool theatre group focused on education. Don't let that fool you... we take out plays seriously, but we achieve a great performance through our commitment to joy in immersive education for all ages and abilities. AWSP focuses on learning to act, read, and analyze stories and characters- involving the actors in all aspects of production, from fight choreography, to lighting, to music and sound, to set and props. Younger siblings are invited into the process as much as they can participate and Older students may even become Assistant Director Apprentices, and are given the opportunity to direct parts of the play themselves. Our alumni in residence return yearly to mentor and share their expertise in stage production, music composition, fight choreography, lighting, costume design, acting theory and assistant directing.
Our official program begins in September, with four weeks of free workshops. This gives families an opportunity to try the program before they commit to being there for the year. In this first month, we have FUN... play acting games and get to know the story we'll be working with. There is no commitment needed until Auditions on October 16th, when tuition of $200 ($400 family max) is due (or payment arrangements made) and a commitment for the entire year is made. Our auditions are structured to be a non-intimidating learning process. NOTE... if a student auditions, they will absolutely become a member of the cast. There are no small parts at AWSP, especially because this is an education-based program. All students, in every part, will learn about acting, Shakespearean history, and producing a show. We learn by DOING! Feel free to invite any other homeschool families you think might be interested in joining us.
No experience is needed to participate, just the desire to learn, to work hard, and to have fun!
